When was Company founded?
The Company was founded in 1974 by John Forzani and three Calgary Stampeder teammates who opened a 1,200 square foot retail location in Calgary known as "Forzani's Locker Room." In 2011, The Forzani Group was acquired by Canadian Tire Corporation.
How many stores does FGL Sports operate and what is the total square footage?
As of August 31, 2011 the Company operates more than 320 corporate stores under the banners Sport Chek, Sport Mart, Atmosphere, National Sports, Athletes World and Hockey Experts. It is also franchisor of 215 stores under the banners Sports Experts, Intersport, Atmosphere, Hockey Experts, The Tech Shop, Nevada Bob's, S3 and Fitness Source. This translates into more than 6 million square feet of retail selling space from coast to coast.
