What is the nature of FGL's business?

The Forzani Group is Canada's largest and only national full-line sporting goods retailer, offering brand name and private-label merchandise.

When was Company founded?

The Company was founded in 1974 by John Forzani and three Calgary Stampeder teammates who opened a 1,200 square foot retail location in Calgary known as "Forzani's Locker Room".

Where are FGL's headquarters?

FGL's headquarters are located at 824 - 41st Avenue N.E., Calgary Alberta T2E 3R3. The Company also has satellite offices in Mississauga, Ontario and a franchise division office in Laval, Quebec.

How many stores does FGL operate and what is the total square footage?

As of May 1, 2009 the Company operates 334 corporate stores under the banners Sport Chek, Sport Mart, Atmosphere, National Sports, Athletes World and Hockey Experts. It is also franchisor of 229 stores under the banners Sports Experts, Intersport, Atmosphere, Hockey Experts, The Tech Shop, Nevada Bob's, S3 and Fitness Source. This translates into around 5.5 million square feet of retail selling space from coast to coast.

FGL's initial public offering was on August 16, 1993. The offering price for each common share was $5.875.

Does FGL offer dividend payments on its stock?

The Company expects to pay dividends to holders of Class "A" Common Shares on a quarterly basis. Dividends will be payable to shareholders of record on specified dates following the announcement. All dividends paid by The Forzani Group Ltd. are, pursuant to subsection 89 (14) of the Income Tax Act, designated as eligible dividends. An eligible dividend paid to a Canadian resident is entitled to the enhanced dividend tax credit. The Company declared its first dividend on December 7, 2007, equivalent to $0.30 annually.
